Spotlight: Mass Effect 2
Mass Effect 2 is an upcoming action role-playing game under development by BioWare Edmonton with assistance from BioWare Montreal, and set to be published by Electronic Arts. The game is the sequel to Mass Effect, and will be released on Microsoft Windows and Xbox 360[8][9] in North America on January 26, 2010, Australia on January 28th, 2010 and in Europe on January 29, 2010.[3]
Mass Effect 2 begins in 2183, not long after the events of Mass Effect. While on patrol for geth, the protagonist Commander Shepard’s ship, the Normandy, comes under attack by an unknown assailant. The ship suffers extensive damage, forcing the crew to evacuate in escape pods. Joker continues to pilot the ship, despite it suffering extensive damage and the rest of the crew evacuating. Shepard reaches Joker, and orders him to get off the ship. Joker insists he can save the ship even though that obviously wasn’t the case. Shepard drags Joker out of his seat and into a pod, but before he can board himself, debris slices through his suit. He suffocates and dies. His body is seen drifting through space. Commander Shepard’s body is retrieved by the Shadow Broker, a secretive buyer of information, selling it to the highest bidder, who has been employed by The Collectors, an enigmatic and xenophobic alien race who serve as the game’s primary antagonists. In the events of Mass Effect: Redemption, former squadmate Liara T’Soni is employed by Cerberus, a pro-human group, to get the body for the organization, before it is delivered to the Collectors. After this, Cerberus works to revive the Commander through a project known as “Lazarus.” Two years later in 2185, Shepard is awakened aboard a Cerberus space station that is under attack, and aids Cerberus agents Miranda Lawson and Jacob Taylor in escaping. Shepard is taken to Cerberus’ headquarters and granted an audience with the Illusive Man, who explains that Shepard was “upgraded” and asks for the Commander’s help in combating a new threat which has been abducting entire human colonies. Shepard and his team are dispatched to the recently attacked colony of Freedom’s Progress in the Terminus Systems to investigate. There, the group encounters Tali, one of Shepard’s former squad members, and discovers that the mysterious insect-like Collectors were behind the attack. Shepard reports this to the Illusive Man, who then reveals what Shepard’s previous squad members are up to. After receiving command of the Normandy SR-2, Shepard decides to begin recruiting a new team to discover the Collectors’ plan.
Spotlight:Land Stalker

Landstalker: The Treasures of King Nole (ランドストーカー 皇帝の財宝, Landstalker Koutei no Zaihou?) is an action-adventure game that was developed by Climax Entertainment originally for the Mega Drive/Genesis. A follow up game called Lady Stalker: Challenge from the Past was released in Japan for the SNES in 1995. The Sega Saturn game Darks Savior (produced by the same company) is considered its spiritual successor. The main characters from Landstalker, Nigel (Ryle in Japan and France, Niels in Germany) and Friday, reappear in the Dreamcast game Time Stalkers.
In 2005, it was announced that Landstalker will be remade for the PlayStation Portable, but the release date was canceled. This game was added to the Wii’s Virtual Console in North America on September 3, 2007, and in Europe on October 5, 2007.
The player, as Nigel the treasure hunter, is tasked with searching for clues that lead to the treasure of King Nole. This is accomplished primarily by travelling through both outdoor areas and dungeons. All gameplay takes place in an isometric view, including plot-advancing scenes.
From the outset of the game, Nigel may walk, jump, swing his sword, climb ropes and ladders, talk to various non-player characters, and pick up and throw various objects. With very few exceptions, these basic actions do not change throughout the game, although Nigel’s weapons and armor may be replaced with better versions thereof. There are a variety of items throughout the game, most of which are either increase or restore health and attacking power or important to advancing the plot or solving puzzles.
The game’s dungeons are filled with monsters, traps, and puzzles that require the player to jump from platform to platform press switches and move blocks to climb on. Locked doors inhibit the player’s progress, the player must find keys or beat enemies or puzzles to unlock them and progress further. Many dungeons and areas have a boss to defeat and the end. The monsters, puzzles and dungeons increase in difficulty as the game progresses. The player has health which is kept track of by hearts; health and the maximum health limit may be increased with items purchased in towns or found in dungeons. The player is not prevented from revisiting old towns and dungeons, and is frequently required to do so to advance the plot.
There are several optional side quests found in the game involving helping out the non-player characters. Nigel can complete these tasks for benefits, like increased attacking power and use of shortcut warps to travel across the overworld quicker. These can help the player but are not necessary to complete the game.
